About the Role

This is an account manager position requiring advanced communication skills, a thorough knowledge of personal lines insurance products and a passion to provide an excellent customer experience. You will manage an existing book of business of 750 clients. Your primary responsibility will be to retain these clients, account round and upsell. The placement and management of new and renewal business is expected to be conducted through prompt and courteous service while maintaining a strong emphasis on retention and growth.

While this is a remote role, candidates in the Pacific Northwest, Puget Sound area are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review accounts handled for adequate coverage, as well as educate, cross-sell, and up-sell coverage.
  • Provide direct customer support and product advisement.
  • Survey prospects to determine insurance needs, inspecting current insurance policies, risk management plans, property, products, and records
  • Develop and deliver formal proposals of insurance including details of coverage, limits, deductibles, and other pertinent information
  • Compose or assist in the composition of highly technical or sensitive correspondence.
  • Translate highly technical information for the client's understanding.
  • Courteously communicate negative actions to the client, while offering a solution to remedy the situation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of communication pertaining to the client's insurance program.
  • Reviews cancellations and determines reason for cancellation requests with an attempt to save client accounts, as appropriate, while maintaining the company’s financial equity.
  • Follow Moreland best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote agency and insurance industry in the community.
  • Keep informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending insurance carrier training meetings on new products, etc
  • Build sustainable relationships by interacting in a professional and caring manner

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ account management experience in personal lines
  • Proven ability to pursue and close sales
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Acts decisively and demonstrates good judgment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and decision-making skills
  • Intermediate acumen with AMS, CRM and comparative rating tools preferred
  • Prior experience in customer service, e.g. hospitality, retail sales, preferred

Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Active Property and Casualty Insurance Producer license required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Professional designation (CPCU/CIC/CISR) desirable
