About the Role

This position will sell group health insurance products including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Critical Illness, Life, Long Term Care, etc. Benefits work may include new and existing client implementation, supporting clients’ day-to-day needs, proposal and report preparation and presentation, benchmarking, compliance, financial projections of benefits costs, and monthly and quarterly financial reports for certain clients.

Responsibilities

Client Services

  • Responsible for providing comprehensive client support and act as main client contact for book of business
  • Pursue new prospect clients and referral networks
  • Renew existing clients annually
  • Assist with day-to-day service issues and concerns, such as eligibility, claim and billing issues
  • Create referral networks
  • Prepare for and manage enrollment meetings with customer's employees
  • Cross sell clients with other insurance divisions within the agency
  • Maintain trust and working relationships with multiple insurance carrier partners
  • Lead meetings with clients, including meetings at client locations
  • Provide proactive support on specific initiatives which deliver unique value through the execution of client specific business plans, service timelines, and corporate communications
  • Effectively manage client communications including changes in terms, enrollment guidelines, risk assessment, and group size/details
  • Review and support in enrollment, benchmarking, financial and utilization data based on financial review standards
  • Adhere to and support continual improvement of best practices, account management responsibilities and documentation standards, keeping management apprised of progress and risks, and executing the function efficiently, accurately, and timely as relates to our client relationships

Vendor/Carrier Evaluation

  • Prepare data required for competitive marketing process, draft, collect and analyze vendor responses, conduct basic vendor negotiations, prepare marketing report, participate in delivery of results to the client

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare cost exhibits to support market evaluations, monthly claims analysis, budget reconciliations, provide underwriting support, data entry, renewal management

Benchmark Analysis

  • Perform market comparisons on plan design components and cost

Project Management

  • Track many open issues, communicate thoroughly with clients and vendors to ensure a common understanding of each issue, where an issue stands at any given time, and ultimately how each issue is resolved

Vendor Management

  • Maintain relationships with various insurers and vendors while staying abreast of new vendor capabilities and products

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of selling and managing major medical and voluntary benefits to medium and large groups
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory obligations applicable to employer-sponsored health plans: PPACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field desired
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong aptitude in project management, written and verbal communications, presentations, critical thinking, and financial analysis
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Commitment to accuracy of own work product and client deliverables
  • Must be able to follow directions, be detailed, organized and resourceful
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Life & Health insurance license

Measures of Success

  • Number of leads, client conversion, annual recurring revenue
  • Client retention, year-over-year revenue growth, cross & upsell rate
  • Customer satisfaction metrics such as response times and issue resolution
